A two-day gathering to address agricultural safety issues has been scheduled for March 5 and 6, 1997 in Sacramento, California.

The event is the third annual Agricultural Health and Safety Conference, to be held at the Holiday Inn Capital Plaza. The conference will feature speakers and workshops on topics such as accident investigation, injury prevention, tractor safety, ergonomics, injury management and business safety checks.

A key focus will be on the practical measures farmers and agribusiness operators can take to minimize the type of activities that lead to accidents and injuries, reported Don Bennett, one of the organizers. Bennett oversees the agricultural safety program at the Center for Agricultural Business (CAB) and is the director of Ag Safe, a coalition of California agencies and organizations committed to improving health and safety in the agricultural workplace.

Ag Safe is a sponsoring organization of the upcoming conference, with CAB acting as a supporting organization. For more information or for registration details, call Ag Safe at (559) 728- 2466.
