Professional Positions

1977 - present: Research Scientist and Director, Dried Foods Technology Laboratory, Viticulture and Enology Research Center, California State University, Fresno.

- - As Research Scientist
Specialties include conducting applied research in the areas of food processing and dehydration; wine and raisin production and processing; and harvesting, handling, and storage of fruits and vegetables. Other work includes completing proposals and research contracts, designing and conducting experiments, managing GLP processing studies, analyzing data, and preparing reports and presentations for industry-funded research projects.
- - As Director
Responsibilities as director of the Dried Foods Technology Laboratory include working with a small, focused, task-oriented research team and collaborating with food companies to develop new products and improve existing products. Other responsibilities include development of microwave vacuum and other technologies for the dehydration of fruits, vegetables, and other products, including meat, dairy, juice concentrates and food additives. This program is industry funded and administered through the California Agricultural Technology Institute and the California State University, Fresno Foundation.
